“It will be a deep sacrifice and a perfect victory” – Wiseman from Sucker Punch
This was an interesting week to say the least, but this time I will skip to Thursday. Class was the same as always, but wow I never knew the 6th floor of the PCL had such a large amount of programming, development, and technology related books available. I have been missing out all of these years. They should help with the many side projects I am trying to do/be a part of. Anyways the week quickly went downhill when I got a message from my sister that she was going to the hospital and was very sick. Needless to say I cancelled everything, missed classes, and drove to San Antonio to see her and take care of her. Sadly enough, a friend of mine also had a trip to the emergency room due to being sick. Lucky for me, my sister keeps guest parking passes in her apartment. The funny thing about that is apparently guest parking permits do not really matter and after spending the night looking after Jessica, I awake to see my first citation on my car. Yay?
It was for $100, and it took about half an hour for them to admit they messed up and void the citation. Seriously, who does that? The citation was for parking without a permit, but on the citation the permit number was listed. Yea, it doesn’t make sense, but at least I didn’t have to pay it so my perfect driving/parking record is still intact for now. Anyways back in Austin, I am greeted by bright neon colors and drunken madness, for it is Round Up weekend and in caring for my sister I forgot to find a place to stay for the weekend. Yikes. For all those that enjoy Round Up, that is wonderful. I just wish I could say the same but to me it just seems more crazy than fun. With the stress of my sister being sick, I needed to relax a bit, so thanks for the MvC3 training Patrick. The highlight of the weekend was seeing Sucker Punch twice in IMAX. If you haven’t seen it…then you are missing out. You should probably fix that. The cinematography was some of the best I have ever seen, the action sequences were amazing, and the story was risky but to me it worked well. It may not be for everyone, but I do hope more people see it. Zach Snyder did not let me down. The critics hated it but user reviews are much higher.
Dirty 6th street isn’t so bad, as long as you are with the right people. Even though I got downtown a bit late, I had a very good time. Thanks Brittnay, Donah, Ade, and David. Unfortunately, I did not get to see everyone that I wanted to, but maybe next time. It was Sheina’s birthday event downtown, but we failed to find her. I’m sure she had a good time though.
Lastly, thanks for the hospitality Patrick, Cara, Gloria, and Ade for helping to get away from my apartment/offering me a place to sleep away from the craziness of west campus. I got my fill for a lifetime last year. Sister is in good condition + (Sucker Punch x 2) + Kindness of friends + Good time downtown = The Perfect Victory.
This has been a wonderful year so far, and I will continue to follow my New Years resolution to “live”. For those that don’t know what I mean, it is just to enjoy life without so much restraint, not worrying so much about tomorrow since it could never come (cliche I know), and to try to have no regrets about my choices. Anyways until next Sunday everyone. Take care.
